The Kootingal Kougars were established in 1976 and were admitted into TDF in the same year, with the Club originally going under the name of Moonbi-Kootingal Soccer Club which was changed in later years to it’s current name of Kootingal and District Soccer Club.
The players from that era were principally drawn from either Moonbi Public School or Kootingal Public School, unlike today, where players originate from almost every Primary School or High School in the near vicinity.
In 2011 KDSC introduced it’s now hugely successful “Come and Try Days” held annually at Kootingal, Nemingha, Dungowan, Moonbi, Tintinhull, Nundle, Timbumburi and Woolomin Public Schools which has seen the Club expand rapidly to the point where it is now officially recognised as the largest Club in the TDF zone with a record 38 teams in 2015 taking to the fields in the famous Purple and White colours that the Club is renowned for. This number of teams is expected to grow even further in season 2016 and into the future.
The Club enjoys a rich history littered with success in all competitive age Divisions, with our First Grade Men’s side have been crowned Premiers on multiple occasions, with their most recent triumph coming in 2014. Our various Women’s Kougarettes sides have contested many Grand Finals since the inception of the Women’s Premier League and our Junior competitive sides have enjoyed their fair share of success as well with many Premierships exited over the 40 years of existence that the Club has enjoyed, with many more expected in the coming years with the wealth of Junior talent now coming through the ranks, due to the hard work of our dedicated volunteers.
